Perlis State Park
Perlis State Parkis located along the Western border of Perlis where the Peninsular Malaysia meets Thailand. The Perlis State Park is situated on the continuous range of limestone hills which also happens to be the longest in the country. The limestone hills are called the Nakawan Range which is about 36km long. The Nakawan Range has beautiful, heavily forested slopes, sheer cliff faces, streams and extensive cave systems. The Perlis State Park in Malaysia consists of Mata Ayer Forest Reserve and Wang Mu Forest Reserve that together comprise a total area of about 5000 hectares.
A unique aspect of the Perlis State Park in Malaysia is that it is the only semi deciduous forest in the country. This means that there are marked changes in the dry season when leaves fall. The main objectives of the park include protection, conservation, research, education and recreation.
Perlis State Park in Malaysia has a number of attractions. Some off the major attractions in the park include the various caves such as Gua Kelam and Gua Wang Burma which are located within the 500 year-old Setul limestone formation.
Hiking is an activity which is very much possible here. If you are interested in a serious hike you just need to follow the jungle tracks. It is not easy, but will take you to a lovely waterfall and onwards to the Wang Burma Cave where there is more to explore.
