Teluk Intan Boatyards

"In these coastal villages of Perak one can see the boat building trade has been around for centuries through its designs."

For centuries, the people of the coastal villages of Perak have designed and made wooden boats, and the boatyards that dot the areas in and around Teluk Intan bear testimony to this. Chengal, an extremely tough and heavy hardwood found almost exclusively in Malaysia, is a popular choice of material as it is durable in both saltwater as well as in rivers. This special wood is found only in Malaysia.

How to Reach there: Exit at the Bidor Interchange via Changkat Jering from the North-South Expressway. There are ample signages to Teluk Intan From there. The boatyard is just one km from Teluk Intan town.
