The gopuram in this temple comprises five tiers of figurines. Each figurine represents the
various incarnations of Lord Shiva and characters from legends associated with the period when
the temple was built.Sculptures in Hindu temples remind devotees of the physical and ideal

The main door is specially carved out of quality timber, usually teak or sandalwood. The Carvings
on the panel depict either scenes from legends or religious items.

This is a fine example of a South Indian-style temple.It's a male temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
It's garbagraham or karuvarai, the holy of holies corresponds to the head. This is where the main
image of chief deity, Lord Shiva, is installed.
The shrine for Shakti, the consort of Lord Shiva, is placed at the north-facing side of the

How to Reach there:
Nagarathar Sivan Temple is located near the start of Jalan Macalister. From the Komtar Bus
Terminal, walk along Jalan Tek Soon to Jalan Penang. Cross Jalan Penang and turn left. Walk along
Jalan Penang until you arrive at the junction of Jalan Macalister, and then cross Jalan Dato
Kramat. Turn right and walk along Jalan Dato Kramat until you arrive at Nagarathar Sivan Temple
on your left.
