About Museum:

It seems surprising that there are plenty of tiny museum houses tucked away in some nook or cranny in Malaysia, especially Kuala Lumpur. Many people do not know about them. One of these is the Royal Malaysian Police Museum which is situated at the No. 5 Jalan Perdana between the National Mosque and the Lake Gardens. Inaugurated in the year 1961 this place displays a couple of thousand articles related to crime and its prevention, artifacts and official documents.

There is also a rather interesting compilation of everything that relates to the Malaysian Police, which is the executive wing of the government, right from the day of its inception to the present day, describing important events and displaying memorabilia.

The history and archives of the museum date back to the Melaka Sultanate (c. 1511). About 7595 artifacts including the first aircraft of the Police Force, guns confiscated from the Communist Terrorists, a Cessna with a single engine, the Marine Police boat and the notorious gangster, the Botak Chin are put on display. The Police Senior Officers’ Mess was renovated and equipped as a museum spanning a budget of around 8 million in the Malaysian Rupee. The Museum remains closed on Mondays.
